I found a site (www.regionfreedvd.net) that provides instructions for unlocking the region encoding on various home DVD players. No guarantees that your specific player is supported, but it's worth looking. Once unlocked, your player will be able to play DVDs from anywhere in world (something that's currently not possible, thanks to region encoding). I looked up our home DVD player (CyberHome CH-DVD 300) and followed their instructions. As far as I can tell, it seems to have to worked - I was able to set the encoding to 0, which denotes "all regions" - but I won't be 100% convinced until I can watch an out-of-region DVD. |
